Know what you mean, mean what you say
People are often saying things that don't mean and call it "a figure of speech". But what if someone doesn't understand that figure and take the statement literally. What if someone really believes they are so hungry, they can eat a horse? Dow that make that person stupid or a good listener? The whole point is you never know how someone may take what you say. There is no guarantee that people will understand the analogies that you have or what you are trying to say the you think your saying it. That is why the clearness of terms on writing is so important. I think that it is irresponsible to hoist word or passages to the public that seemingly had credibility but it was poorly worded to lead someone in the wrong direction. Or you may run the mistake of offending someone else. That last thing you want is to offend someone else's views and opinions. Hence, we must watch what we write and how we write it. The way people see your writing can also be the way people see you.
What's the word up
Language is considered valid if it can be understood. If it makes since to people and other know what your talking about. But if that is the definition, then as long as someone can understand stand you, anything you say can be a language right? No? Well who gets to decide that? Who gets to choose rather or not something is language? Every culture has it own dialect that make there way of speaking so unique. If can be widely understood by those of the same area or background but that is what makes languages so unique, because it can change, thing can be added, things can be taken away, and at any given time a new form of speaking can form. A great example of one word that shapes a language of a whole generation

My reflection
This English class is like none other than I have been in before and I am thankful for that. I have been opened up to new genres of writing that I feel is a better fit to my own personal style as opposed to what had been instilled in me in the past. In traditional classes of creative writing, there was no opportunity to be creative. It was Alway so structured in telling you that this is the only way to write. Granted, I was good at it but it was boring and I felt so limited to what I could and felt it was wrong to do anything else. I like that we were encouraged to explore our muses. We were encouraged to accept all the changes that come along with the writing process because it is our OWN process. Overall I think these new view on the world of writing will serve me well in the future of any other writhing situation that I may find myself in.

CSW
The By far, my favorite part or presentation of the CSW was the Raven presentation. I like the empowering message that it had and that it stood for. I also enjoyed the ironic since that there was a med-west media expo the same weekend as her presentation. But really what struck me about that most was, being a fellow cos-player and a person who enjoys going to convention,
I see a lot of girls mimicking their favorite women and shero'a on the screen. A lot of those characters represent strong women who own themselves and their sexually that no man would f$&k around with; so it is evident to see why women would want to dress up on those outfits and put themselves in "the same shoes" as these powerful person. Unfortunately in the real world men or in some cases women are not conditioned like the people in the program to fear or to respect these people and only see them as a symbol of pleasure. I have seen this happen, I have experienced this first hand. And I firmly believe that an outfit is in noway, shape, or from a welcome mat for someone to me or anyone else.
The only thing that I would critique the presentation on is that I wish it would have also addressed women who do go to these conventions and proceed to dress up in these costume with the wanting of "attention" in that way and acts as such . Those who do that puts everyone else at a dangerous disadvantage because it gives a predator grounds to feel like what he/she is doing is okay. I feel very strongly about this subject and I am thankf for this presentation for discussing this topic.
